Department of Marathi

About

The department was established in 1964, the same year the college was opened. Mrs. Usha Limaye was the first professor appointed on 30th July 1964. Prof. Ashok Godghate joined this institution on 17th July 1969. Dr. Prakash Kharat was appointed on 01 October 1985. Both the professors had a wholesome approach towards literature and they enriched the department with several activities. Their contribution to the field of Marathi Literature stood noteworthy all the years of their service. Dr. Prakash Kharat became well-known as a writer and critic within a short span of time and could author several books. Andharacha Ast, Aksharanchi Pahat, Dalit Sahitya-Pravrutti ani Pravah, Yashodhara are some of the best-sellers. Dr. Mrs. Malati Ingle was appointed on 1988. She contributed Nile Aakash Maze Aahe (Collection), Baburao Bagul: Vyaktitva aani Wangmaya, Dalit Aatmachintan-Wangmayin Samajik Falashruti.

The Post-Graduate department was started in 1997. Prof. Dipraj Khobragade was appointed in 2003 and is working as Head of the Department of Marathi. He contributed ‘Deekshabhoomi Gaurav Granth (02 Volumes).

Prof. Shankar Ramprasadji Chandekar and Prof. Ravindra Tirpude are appointed as approved teachers from 2016-17. Ms. Ragini Chaudhari, Mr. Devanand Khobragade and Ms. Padma Nagdeve are working as visiting professors.
