About

The Department of Commerce, DR. Ambedkar College has made its mark felt everywhere and created a wealth of achievements since its inception in the year 1964. It was one of the Founder Faculty of The College .In its history spanning over five decades, it has redefined commerce education in the state.With highly qualified and distinguished faculty members, the department has been able to grow on all fronts.Over the years, the faculty members have worked in esteemed positions and capacities in University and Board of Studies.

The department offers two of the most popular and sought after courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level namely B.Com and M.Com, which are updated from time to time to cover a wide spectrum of interdisciplinary linkages and meet the current industry demands. The department has nearly 1000 Students in U.G (B.Com) and nearly about 300 Students In P.G (M.Com). These courses acquaint students with sought after knowledge, skills and abilities to let them step into the corporate world with much needed dynamism ,various post-graduate programmes both domestically and globally and finally professional courses like Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary, and Chartered Financial Analyst among others.The course is further enriched with expert suggestions through the Academia Advisory Board.

A core library and commerce lab is available for both U.G & P.G students. Many of our students are university rank holders. We also conduct a good number of co-curricular & extra-curricular activities including field visits & certificate courses. We have MOU’s with Bajaj Finserv for Certificate Program in Banking, Finance and Insurance (CPBFI ) and with Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (MCED).Students are offered hands on training programs on Accounting and Taxation with internships under our “Tally- Learn and Earn’’ program. The department also offers University approved certificate course in “Business Analytics” .The department actively conducts soft skill development workshops and has also pioneered in the soft skill development program of the college named “UNNATI”.Under the aegis of Stalwarts of Commerce , renowned personalities in the field of commerce are celebrated every year.

The department has also organised several national and international webinars, conferences and workshops to enhance the talent of its students. Some of the webinars include collaboration with the government organisation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Development Institute (MSME-DI) and international sustainable organisations like “Global Impact Network Inc” and “Silpkarman” . Our alumni are well placed in the public as well as in the private sector and interact with new students through alumni meets and panel discussions. With every single initiative undertaken, the Department of Commerce has grown by leaps and bounds.
