Department of Zoology, Dr Ambedkar College started in 1969 and transformed into present form with two general laboratories for regular practical (Total constructed area of department: 180.25 m2) and a phyla-wise animal specimen museum primarily. The teaching and non teaching manpower support adds the normal teaching work load requirements. The department also has a departmental core library with 418 books besides 1856 in central Library and 4 journals subscribed (Journal 9Appsof Genetics; Fishing Chimes; Current Science; Resonance). The college wire-free Internet facility has a separate node at the department with its own username and password. As the syllabus of graduation in zoology requires a dark room for the 9Appsmicro-technique related micro-photography and a separate laboratory space for faculty research activities where there are two research projects are running. As a separate activity of the department, a small pond (20’x10’x10’) for composite fish culture is also maintained by the department.
