A three day Free Legal Aid and Literacy Programme was organized on 10th, 11th and 12th October 2016 on the occasion of Dhammachakra Pravartan Din. This camp was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Justice S.B. Shukre, who was the chief guest at the event. Along with the Hon’ble chief guest, the other dignitaries on the dais were, Adv. Shraddhanand Bhutada, Secretary High Court Bar Association, Adv. Anil Gowardipe, Member, Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, Shri. Vijay Chikate, Shri. N.R.Sute, Adv. AnandFulzele, Shri. VikasGajghate Hon’ble members of ParamPoojya Dr. BabasahebAmbedkar Smarak Samiti and Dr. P.C.Pawar, Principal of Dr. Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur. In his address, Hon’ble Shri Justice S.B. Shukre, highlighted the importance of primary education and legal education in the upliftment and progress of society, which has been the vision of the legendary Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. This year on the occasion of the 125th Birth Anniversary of Param Pujya Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, 125 unique facets of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar are published in the form of booklet
On 11th August 2016 , Legal aid cell of Department of Law Dr. Ambedkar College, Deekshabhhomi, Nagpur with lot of vivacity and enthusiasm organized “Awareness programme on Organ Donation,” to mark the Oragn donation Day which is observed every year on 13th August. Retd. Sqn Ldr Dr Ravi Wankhede, Director of Mohan Foundation – a leading NGO working towards spreading awareness about organ donation delivered lecture on the topic, “Awareness talks on organ donation”. Students have also prepared the posters on the theme “organ donation and transplantation” which is judged by and praised by Dr. Wankhede sir. Dr. Pratima Lokhande, Assistant Professor conducted the programme and proposed a formal vote of thanks.
The lecture on, “Health awareness and Health Care” was organized by Department of Law of Dr. Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur as a part of “Legal Aid Cell” activity for female prisoners at Central Jail, Nagpur . This Programme aimed at spreading awareness amongst female inmates regarding their health rights. Dr. Kalpana Chavan, the resource person emphasized the importance of health, hygiene, cleanliness, and healthy habits. Female prisoners interacted enthusiastically and the resource person as well as with the students of IV Sem. LL.B. (3Y.C).This programme was organized by Assistant Professor Dr. Pratima Lokhande.
Legal Aid cell of Department of Law of Dr. Amebedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur celebrated the Constitution day on 26th November 2015 in association with the District Legal Services Authority which marks the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar and also marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. On this occasion students of I sem. (3Y.C.) and IV sem. (3 Y.C.) distributed pamphlets to the people at Reserve bank Square. Charts were also prepared by the students of Law department highlighting Fundamental duties, Fundamental Rights and Preamble to convey the message contained in the Constitution of India.
Free Legal Aid camp was organized by Department of Law on the occasion of Dhammachakra Pravartan Din on 21st,22nd and 23rd October 2015. The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Justice Z.A. Haq who was the chief guest at the event. In his address he highlighted the importance of legal aid. A register was created wherein the details of people with legal problems was also noted down by the students.
A one day workshop on “Para Legal Volunteers scheme” was organized by Legal Aid Cell of Department of Law Dr. Ambedkar College, in association with District Legal Services Authority, Nagpur. One of the aims of the workshop was to impart a basic knowledge to the students of Five years course and Three years course, about a scheme called “Para Legal Volunteers Scheme”
Dr. Ambedkar College, Department of Law had organized a Street Play titled, “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” in Kacchipura Slum area, Nagpur. This play aimed to highlight the Right to education of a girl child. With the help of innovative songs, actions and dialogues, the play emphasized the need to oppose the oppression of women and make them aware about their rights. The audience of Kacchipura Slum area enjoyed and appreciated the performance and even pledged to save girl child and educate them
Visit to Lokadalat was organzied by legal Aid cell for the students of Dr. Ambedakar College, Department of Law, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur on 23rd October 2015. This Lokadalat was conducted by District Legal Services Authority, Nagpur. Students stayed at the Lokadalat for about 3-4 hours and witnessed the cases that were referred to the Lokadalat by the Civil Court and the ones in which the parties at the first instance approached the Lokadalat themselves.
Free Legal Aid and awareness camp was organized on 14th March 2015 by Legal aid cell of Dr. Ambedkar College, Department of Law, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur at Athawa mail, Wadi village under the supervision of Coordinators of Legal aid Cell Dr. N.M.Khirale, and Dr. Pratima Lokhande. Students of department of law made the people of Wadi village aware about the various enactments such as Right to Education Act, Motor vehicles Act, Right to Information Act, Consumer Protection Act etc.
